Review: The STM Laptop Sleeve (for MacBooks, MBPs and PowerBooks)
We have talked about MacBook sleeves in the past when we reviewed the Tucano Second Skin. Today I will talk about another sleeve manufacturer, STM (Standard Technical Merchandise; you can see why they call themselves STM!) who haven’t been as well known (they are an Australian company) but make some great cases. I will be reviewing their STM “Glove” sleeve for my 12″ PowerBook (I know, it’s old but I can’t bear to part with it until Apple release a new sub-notebook!)

Review and more pics after the jump!
First things first, the sleeve is simple and does its job well. You might think there isn’t much to say about a sleeve, but it’s the sort of product that you take for granted when it’s made well. The main points which stood out for me were as follows:
1. It is literally skin tight, the sleeve is slightly smaller than my PowerBook and so it stretches a tiny bit to fit and so it’s very secure.

2. Because the neoprene material is skin tight, it is very easy to grip my PowerBook with one hand and hold it like you’re carrying a book.

3. It’s actually well made with a good quality zip which doesn’t scratch the PowerBook (in the same way as the Tucano Second Skin), no loose threads, no wear and tear after nearly two years use.
STM make sleeves for MacBooks and MacBook Pros, but they also have a history of making backpacks for all your gadgets and laptops (including iPods). I have also noticed that The Apple Store in the Bullring Shopping centre in Birmingham UK has started selling STM backpacks (but not the sleeves yet) so they are starting to become a little more known in the UK at least.
