The Apple Files

Apple’s Showtime event took place across the pond in San Francisco at 18 00 BST (British Summer Time) yesterday. Steve Jobs’ keynote from the Showtime event is available to view as a webcast on the Apple website.

The event has been covered live by the folks at engadget (including pictures from the keynote). But in summary, here’s what’s new from Apple:

1. Movies^* in the iTunes Music Store along with a major iTunes update.

   iTunes 7 now features

   • A whole new interface
   • Free album art download for your existing music
   • Navigation of your music by album art using built in Cover Flow
   • Reverse iPod syncing (only for music bought from the iTunes Store)
   • Built in Backup functionality
2. Completely remastered, higher capacity (up to 8GB) (and cheaper!) iPod nanos (in 5 different colours)


3. New (and cheaper!) iPod shuffle



4. Updated video iPod
• Cheaper Prices (£189 for the 30GB model and £259 for the 60GB model)
• 60% brighter screen
• Improved battery life (up to 20 hrs music playback or up to 6.5 hrs video playback)
• Instant Search your library from your iPod (iTunes style)
  
  
• A collection of games designed for the video iPod has also been introduced via the iTunes Store (iTunes Link)
5. Sneak Peak of iTv (code name), a box that lets you connect your Mac to your TV! (coming early 2007)
