MacBook RSS List

Matther over at macbookrandomshutdown.com has set up a list of all MacBook users affected with Random Shutdown. If your MacBook has experienced random shutdowns, head over there and add yourself to the list.
This will no doubt help show how widespread this issue is and maybe even push Apple that little bit closer to fessing up.

Well, mine was doing the same after only having it for a few months. Then the batterys shape changed. It actually pufed up in one spot and the battery stopped working completely. I got it replaced under Apple’s return program and since replacing the battery, no more randome shut downs.

Did the test - no fan noise but the computer shut down alright, after about 30 seconds. Great… Don’t have time for this shit! I swapped to Mac to avoid this kind of hassle.

Hi,
Early January 2008, I just updated all software on my white MacBook as I was having RSS issues. After updates, the “yes” test still causes a shutdown within less than a minute.

Hi Elijah,
When is your MacBook from?
It may be that the hardware has been permanently damaged prior to updating the software/firmware. I would definitely bring it to Apple for service.

My 13″ black , purchased in November 2006 began shuting down several months ago. I recently talked to applecare reps on 2 or 3 occasions. They took me through some proceedures, but nothing helped. None of them mentioned that this was a widespread problem, and when my macbook finally shut down and wouldn’t boot up again, the last rep I spoke with told me to take it to an authorized store. I took it to “I Place” in Greenville South Carolina, and after one day and $30 was told the logic board needed replacing, and it would cost $1,020. I now have about $1,800 worth of computer and software that is worthless, and it’s less than two years old.
