Back in April, an untrasound device was installed by a Theatre Square in the UK in an attempt to repell young trouble makers. It works by emitting a very annoying high pitched sound which can only be heard by young people. This is because most adults gradually lose the ability to hear high pitched sounds.
While this has proven effective in repelling yobs from the theatre square, it has also been exploited by teenagers as a ringtone which their teachers will not hear in class.
To find out if you can hear the ringtone dubbed the Mosquito Tone, listen the mp3 file here:
This has also been featured by the BBC and they have an audio clip (Real Player) demonstrating the use at the theatre square.
